Indonesia Climbs to Seventh Place in Asian Para Games

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian team has made significant progress in the ongoing medal standings at the Asian Para Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China, now holding the seventh position. This advancement follows their recent achievement of two gold medals in para-athletics and para-swimming on Monday (23/10/2023). Sprinter Saptoyogo Purnomo claimed Indonesia's first gold medal by dominating the T37 400-meter run, clocking in at 54.80 seconds on Monday afternoon. Para-swimmer Maulana Rifky Yavianda clinched the second gold medal in the men's S12 backstroke event, setting a new record with an impressive time of 1 minute and 03.55 seconds. Alongside the golds, the Indonesian contingent also secured two silver and five bronze medals, with two of the bronzes earned in the sport of blind judo. Comprising 130 athletes, the Indonesian team aimed to attain 19 gold medals, 23 silver medals, and 23 bronze medals, aspiring to secure a spot in the top ten in the final medal standings.
