Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Friday (20/6/2025) that evacuation efforts for Indonesian citizens in Iran are underway due to escalating security risks following Israeli missile strikes.
“Our citizens have gathered and stayed overnight at the Indonesian Embassy’s safehouse in Tehran before departing via land routes,” said Judha Nugraha, the Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Though the exact number of evacuees remains undisclosed by the ministry, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan stated separately that 115 Indonesians are being evacuated aboard four buses departing Tehran on Friday.
Indonesian Military (TNI) spokesperson Major General Kristomei Sianturi said that the evacuees will be transported to Baku, Azerbaijan, before flying home on Sunday.
The evacuation follows the Foreign Minister’s decision to raise the embassy's security alert to Level 1, citing intensified Israeli attacks that have expanded from military to civilian targets, prompting immediate repatriation measures.
