Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Marselino Ferdinan's two goals brought a 2-0 victory for Indonesia over Saudi Arabia in their third-round World Cup Qualifier for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held on Tuesday (19/11/2024), at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.
The victory marked Indonesia’s first three points in the third qualifying round, bringing their total to six points in Group C. They are now just three points shy of the target set by the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) for the national team.
Marselino scored in the 32nd and 57th minutes. His first goal came from a pass by Ragnar Oratmangoen, while his second was the result of a defensive mistake by Saudi Arabia. Despite a late red card to Justin Hubner in the 89th minute, Indonesia held firm to secure the victory.
"We played with determination from the start," said coach Shin Tae-yong, whose team showed resilience, especially after being reduced to 10 men.
Despite intense pressure, Indonesia, ranked 130th in the world, triumphed over 59th-ranked Saudi Arabia.
