Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta.  Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi hopes collaboration in trade with Lithuania could be improved. This was stated by Retno after her meeting with her Lithuanian counterpart, Gabrielius Landsbergis on Monday (10/30/2023). “In the first half of this year, bilateral trade between two states have improved 43% from the same period in previous year. However, the volume of our bilateral trade still has not showcased its true potential,” says Retno. According to Indonesian Trade Ministry data, the bilateral trade value of Indonesia-Lithuania is USD 53.5 million in 2022 with trade balance deficit trend of 5.12% for 2018-2022 shares. Therefore, Retno also asked for Landsbergis support in facilitating more Indonesian products for Lithuanian market such as rubber, paper, and wooden furniture. This initiative is to improve two-ways trade and ensure more balanced trade. On the other hand, Indonesia-Lithuania also seeks to strengthen cooperation in information tech, LNG and renewable energy, agriculture, as well as space technology. “The two states have similar interest in diversifying supply chains, strengthening cyber security, and improving resilience against hybrid threats,” Landsbergis says.
