Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.Jimly Asshiddiqie, Chairman of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK), announced the final deadline of Wednesday (11/11/2023) for the public to submit reports on alleged ethical violations related to the Constitutional Court's decision number 90/PUU-XXI/2023.
"Reporting is the right of citizens. Anyone wishes to file a report, we can accept it is until Wednesday," he said as reported by antaranews.com.
There are currently 18 reports, with two new ones today, highlighting six issues. Most importantly, several reports are linked to Constitutional Court Chief Justice Anwar Usman, who is the brother-in-law of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
Recent hearings held by the MKMK in Jakarta dealt with alleged ethical violations by constitutional judges in the case. The decision on Case No. 90/PUU-XXI/2023 has been controversial due to perceived conflicts of interest, resulting in numerous reports of alleged ethical violations by the judges involved.
The decision, which amends Article 169, Letter Q of Law Number 7 of 2017 on general elections, changed the requirement to run for presidential election.
These MKMK hearings will consist of separate sessions for complainants and judges to ensure a fair investigation.
