Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian national football team secured a goalless draw against Australia in the World Cup 2026 Asian qualifiers match on Tuesday, (10/9/2024), at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, before a crowd of 70,059 spectators.

It was Indonesia's first draw with Australia since 2009 and adds to their tally with two points from two games in Group C, according to antaranews.com.

In the first half, Indonesia, bolstered by players who had previously drawn with Saudi Arabia, aggressively attacked but saw early shots by Sandy Walsh and Rafael Struick saved by Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan.

Indonesia's Maarten Paes also shone, making crucial saves, including a block against Australian Harry Souttar and a crucial stop from Australian Craig Goodwin’s close-range shot.

In the second half, Indonesia's coach Shin Tae-yong made strategic substitutions, including bringing in Witan Sulaeman and Thom Haye to boost their attack. Despite increased pressure, Paes continued to excel with key saves in the 58th and 67th minutes, earning cheers from the fans.

The match ended in a draw, with Indonesia earning a valuable point.
