Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) implore community to wear face mask, particularly those who live in high pollution area.
“We implore the community to always get informed with air quality reports, particularly from BMKG, KLH, and Environmental Office around the are as the authorized officials,” says the Acting Vice Climatology Sector, Ardhasena Sopaheluwekan in Jakarta, Monday (9/11/2023).
He said that the agency predicts the air quality according to PM2.5 for 12-14 of September 2023 shows that several areas in Java are considered hazardous. The area which was mentioned are Banten, DKI Jakarta, and west of West Java.
He adds that the air quality based on PM2.5 concentration during these last few weeks in general are in mid to hazardous category. The NO2 gas or nitrogen dioxide, as the indicator for air pollution, from 1-10 of September 2023 was mostly seen in Greater Jakarta area, Banten, and Sunda Strait.
Ardhasena then adds that other than using mask, he implored the community to also maintain a healthy life style, plant more green plants, have a better air circulation, clean indoor air, and often use public transportation.
