Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, emphasized the significance of bilateral ties between Indonesia and Kuwait in tackling global issues, particularly in the realm of employment.
In a statement issued on Saturday (24/2/2024), Minister Ida highlighted the pivotal role of Indonesia-Kuwait relations in navigating regional and multilateral platforms to address pressing concerns, including Palestinian independence, peace initiatives, security matters, and socio-economic development, antaranews.com reported.
"To effectively address these global challenges, both countries have established two key bilateral mechanisms: the Joint Ministerial Commission and the Joint Trade Commission at the senior official level," she said.
Furthermore, within the employment sector, Indonesia and Kuwait have previously inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) pertaining to the placement of Indonesian migrant workers back in 1996.
Minister Ida highlighted that Kuwait currently hosts over 6,100 Indonesian citizens, with approximately 2,850 among them employed as migrant workers in sectors such as oil, healthcare, and hospitality.
"I look forward to seeing more Indonesian migrant workers, particularly those with professional and skilled backgrounds, contributing to Kuwait's workforce in the future," she said.
Minister Ida stressed the importance of nurturing and expanding cooperation between Indonesia and Kuwait, especially concerning employment, to ensure the seamless integration and effective placement of Indonesian workers in Kuwait.
