Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The Indonesian Athletic Association (PASI) has dispatched 30 athletes to Jamaica for a three-month training program in the country.
Zacky Anwar Makarim, the Head of the Organization and Province Division of PASI, said after the inauguration of the PASI Central Java board for the 2023-2027 term in Semarang that the athletes come from various sprinting disciplines, antaranews.com reported.
"We recognize Jamaica as a hub for world-class sprinters, and we aim to learn from their expertise," he said on Saturday (24/2/2024).
Zacky cited Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt as one of the renowned athletes from the country with global achievements.
Regarding the plan to bring coaches from Jamaica, he noted that discussions are ongoing.
"While we do have plans to bring coaches from Jamaica, it's still in the discussion phase. However, we have already sent 30 athletes to undergo training there," Zacky said.
According to him, the athletes training in Jamaica are being prepared to compete in various athletic events, particularly international short-distance running competitions.
