Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang.  The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police has uncovered an international network involved in the sale of same-sex child pornography videos through the messaging app Telegram. "Five suspects were arrested, each with varying roles in the production and distribution of this content," Deputy Chief of Soekarno Hatta Airport Police, Superintendent Ronald F.C Sipayung, on Saturday (24/2/2024). One of the suspect, identified as HS, played a key role in producing the pornographic content, while  another suspect, identified as MA, involved in both the abuse and dissemination of the videos, he said.  Suspect AH was identified as a purchaser of the illicit material, suspect KR as both an abuser and a facilitator, and suspect NZ as another buyer, also implicated in the abuse and facilitation, antaranews.com reported. "These adults engaged children as victims in the videos, which were then sold or distributed to individuals seeking such pornographic content," Deputy Chief Ronald said. In total, there were eight underage victims, aged between 12 and 16 years, identified in this international pornography network. Deputy Chief Ronald disclosed that the suspects independently produced the pornographic videos using personal smartphones, later disseminating and selling them through premium Telegram accounts. "We believe that these videos have already been sold or distributed, with the suspects profiting from their sale," he said, adding that they earned around Rp 100 million from the crime. The investigation into this case began following reports from the public since August 21, 2023, regarding international pornography crimes. Subsequently, the police conducted investigations and coordinated with the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The suspects face imprisonment ranging from a minimum of five years to a maximum of fifteen years for their actions. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
