Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. To United Nations Relief & Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Indonesia pledges to triple its aids for Palestine. The commitment was uttered by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi during a meeting with UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini in Geneva, Swiss. “I have conveyed, to represent Indonesia support to UNRWA, Indonesia have decided to triple our support to UNRWA,” says Minister Retno on Thursday (12/14/2023). Minister Retno reiterated that Indonesia will continue to support Palestine, as the Southeast Asian country have allocated their IDR 3 billion funds to Palestine through UNRWA. “UNRWA also expects Indonesia to use their influence so that other countries would also lend their support to UNRWA,” says Minister Retno. According to UNRWA reports, around 1.9 million or more than 85% of Gaza have been evacuated, some of them even have to be evacuated more than once. “Families have to constantly move from place to place to survive,” Minisiter Retno said. Moreover, according to Gaza Health Ministries, there are 18,205 Palestinians died with 70% are women and children. Furthermore, 49,645 Palestinians are suffering injuries since the incident began on October 7th. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
