Indonesia Proposes Water Declaration at 10th WWF in Bali

Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar  .Indonesia has put forth a draft declaration for the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) Ministerial Declaration in Bali, aiming to address global water scarcity. 

Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan underscored on Saturday (20/4/2024) its importance, focusing on integrated water resource management for small island nations, creating centers of excellence for water management, and proposing World Lake Day annually on 27 August.

He emphasized that outcomes will be discussed further at the United Nations, as reported by antaranews.com. 

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Pubilc Works and Pubilc Housing Mohammad Zainal Fatah confirmed the draft's approval, indicating a shared commitment. 

This marks the first ministerial-level commitment in WWF history, achieved through consultations with relevant parties, including the World Water Council and UNESCO. 

The 10th World Water Forum in Bali aimed to gather stakeholders to tackle global water challenges under the theme "Water for Shared Prosperity," with Luhut as Chairman and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono as Vice-Chairman.
