Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Mount Ruang's ongoing volcanic emissions in the Sitaro Islands, North Sulawesi, prompted the Search and Rescue (SAR) team in Manado to advise Tagulandang residents to evacuate temporarily for safety.
According to SAR reports on Saturday (20/4/2024), the volcanic eruption affected 11,624 Tagulandang residents, with only 2,176 evacuated so far, according to antaranews.com.
To facilitate evacuation, SAR in Manado has deployed ground and water teams to relocate residents from Tagulandang to Siau Island, a one-hour voyage away.
During evacuations, SAR Manado assured residents' health and safety, urging them to steer clear of the six-kilometer radius around the active crater and move to safer zones.
These precautions were vital as Mount Ruang remains at level IV (Alert) status, with SAR observations indicating continued volcanic activity on the third day of operations, it said.
