Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian team secured three gold medals on the first day of 2023 Wounded Homeland Games in Damascus, Syria, on Monday (4/12/23), with para swimmer Muhammad Gery Pahker earning two gold medals in the 50-meter freestyle and one in 50-meter breaststroke.
Indonesian Para Swimming coach Didit Permadi expressed pride in Gery's achievements, stating, "We are proud of the two gold medals that Gery won today, while Bayu is set to compete on Tuesday."
In Para athletics, Marcelino Michael and Rizal Bagus Saktiono secured gold and bronze, respectively, in the shot put event at the Tishreen Stadium in Damascus on Monday (4/12/23).
Meanwhile, in Para badminton, Maman Nurjaman secured a victory by defeating Hossain of Syria with a score of 21-8, 21-9 in the first match at Feyhaa Sport City. Wiwin Andri, another Para badminton athlete, has yet to compete as the host athlete withdrew before the scheduled match.
The Wounded Homeland Games in Damascus is scheduled to continue until Thursday (7/12/23).
