Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian U-20 national team triumphed 4-0 over the Maldives U-20 team in their opening match of Group F in the 2025 AFC U-20 Asia Cup qualifiers at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/9/2024).
After a frustrating first half without goals, Indonesia exploded in the second half with strikes from Aditya Warman (52'), Figo Dennis (54'), Toni Firmansyah (57'), and Jens Raven (65'). Indonesia had controlled the game early on, with Firmansyah’s initial efforts thwarted by Maldives goalkeeper Mohamed Yaameen.
Despite some close calls, the first half ended goalless. Coach Indra Sjafri's strategic substitutions in the second half paid off, beginning with Warman's opener. Figo and Toni quickly followed with additional goals, while Raven sealed the convincing win after a corner.
This victory put Indonesia atop Group F with three points, ahead of Yemen, who defeated Timor Leste 3-1. Indonesia will next face Timor Leste on Friday afternoon, while the Maldives will play Yemen earlier that day.
