Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has called upon the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take immediate action to cease the escalating Israel-Palestine conflict in Gaza and address the humanitarian crisis unfolding. During an open debate of the UNSC addressing the situation in Gaza, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi emphasized that every second that passes without tangible action from the UNSC has dire consequences for the people of Gaza. "I want to remind the UNSC that it holds a significant responsibility to maintain peace and security, not to allow prolonged wars or assist any party in continuing the conflict," Minister Retno said in a statement delivered during the UNSC Meeting in New York, the United States of America on Tuesday  (24/10/2025) Strongly condemning Israel's ongoing aggression against civilians in Gaza, she stressed that the UNSC cannot stand idly by and witness the disasters and humanitarian crimes taking place in Palestine. The minister said that Israel's attacks on hospitals and places of worship, the blockade on electricity, water, fuel, and the displacement of Gaza's residents have been executed under the banner of collective punishment. Simultaneously, civilians are being held hostage, their lives threatened. She went on to emphasize that every second wasted due to political differences and the failure to reach a consensus represents a setback for humanity and exacerbates instability. "How many more lives must be sacrificed before the UNSC takes action?" she  was quoted by antaranews.com as saying. Through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council meetings, and the D8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, Indonesia has been calling for a unanimous voice to press for the cessation of violence and focus on humanitarian disaster issues.
