Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia won the FIFAe World Cup 2024 console category title after a decisive victory over Brazil in the finals held in Saudi Arabia on Thursday night (12/12/2024).
Led by esports athletes Rizky Faidan and Elga Cahya, the Indonesian team prevailed in a best-of-three format. After trailing 0-1 in the first match, they rallied to a 2-1 win with a last-minute goal.
In the second match, Indonesia dominated early, leading 2-0 in the first half. Brazil managed to score in the second half but fell short, sealing Indonesia's championship win.
The victory marked Indonesia's second FIFAe World Cup title this year, following their triumph in the Football Manager category in September this year, according to antaranews.com.
Indonesia advanced to the knockout stage as Group A runners-up after defeating powerhouses like Poland, Malaysia, and South Korea. In the quarterfinals, they overcame Morocco in three games, then swept Turkey in the semifinals.
This milestone cemented Indonesia’s position as a rising force in the global esports scene, further building on its success in February’s AFC eAsian Cup 2024.
