Inp.polri.go.id - Phnom Penh.The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Phnom Penh has been overseeing a case involving two Indonesian nationals who allege mistreatment at the hands of an online scam enterprise.
Judha Nugraha, Director of the Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha disclosed on Sunday (24/9/2023) that the Indonesian embassy has communicated with the two citizens.
The two individuals, identified by their initials, LHF and NS, has been residing in Bavet, Cambodia, since September 2022, antaranews.com reported.
In a video disseminated via the @Android-AK-47 social media account, a man and a woman were observed in restraints as they narrated their ordeal of being held captive without sustenance or hydration for an extended period.
The video introduced a character identifying himself as Prince Grey, who asserted that the victims hailed from Purwakarta, West Java. Initially employed by an online gambling entity, their trajectory shifted in April 2023 when they transitioned to an online fraudulent operation.
In response to the allegations, Judha affirmed that the Indonesian embassy has initiated a preliminary probe into the matter and embarked on close cooperation with Cambodian law enforcement agencies.
