Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono maintained Indonesia’s firm stance on pushing for a peaceful resolution to the Myanmar crisis during the Extended Informal Consultation on the Five-Point Consensus (5PC), held on the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur.

“Stability in the region can only be achieved if ASEAN remains united and acts on the principles of consensus and solidarity,” he said in a statement on Sunday (25/5/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The minister stressed the urgency of fully implementing the 5PC—ASEAN’s 2021 framework following the Myanmar coup—by halting violence, expanding humanitarian aid, and ensuring inclusive dialogue involving all stakeholders in Myanmar.

Minister Sugiono also backed Malaysia’s leadership in ASEAN this year and pledged Indonesia’s continued support for peaceful conflict resolution and democratic restoration in Myanmar.

The informal consultation brought together ASEAN foreign ministers and special envoys to assess the situation and advance the 5PC agenda as a shared regional priority.
