Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Sunday (20/7/2025) that Indonesian social media influencer, identified as Arnold Putra, was granted amnesty by Myanmar and deported after serving part of a seven-year sentence for alleged terrorism-related offenses.
“On 16 July 2025, the Myanmar government informed our embassy in Yangon via diplomatic note that he had been granted amnesty by the State Administration Council,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Rolliansyah “Roy” Soemirat, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The social media influencer was arrested on 20 December 2024, accused of illegally entering Myanmar and meeting with an armed opposition group. He was convicted under the Anti-Terrorism Law, Immigration Law, and the Unlawful Associations Act, and detained at Insein Prison in Yangon.
Following sustained diplomatic efforts, he was released and flown to Bangkok on Saturday before returning to Indonesia. The Ministry praised Myanmar authorities and all parties involved in securing his release.
