Inp.polri.go.id - Kuala Lumpur. The Indonesian Consulate General in Kuching is monitoring the investigation into the recent death of a migrant worker from East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, in Miri, Malaysia.
Indonesian Consul General in Kuching R Sigit Witjaksono said that the migrant worker, identified as 40-year-old Gafur, was found with gunshot wounds in a private oil palm plantation in Sepupok, Niah, Sarawak, on 30 July 2024. The body was autopsied on 1 August 2024, and local police are continuing their investigation.
Miri Police Chief Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed receiving a report about the body on 29 July 2024. Initial investigations indicate that the deceased was a foreign national, though his exact origin was not disclosed.
The police are seeking suspects, witnesses, and evidence related to the crime under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head, face, neck, and abdomen.
