Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Immigration Office in Denpasar has arrested seven Nigerians suspected of overstaying their visas and involvement in online romance scams.

The Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Office in Bali, Pramella Yunidar Pasaribu, confirmed on Friday (2/8/2024) that four of the tourists, who entered Indonesia in late 2023, are recorded to have overstayed more than 492, 441, and 370 days respectively.

Three others, holding investor permits, were also detained, according to antaranews.com.

On 30 July 2024, three suspects attempted to escape from a hotel, injuring themselves in the process—two with minor injuries and one critically wounded. Immigration officers found two Nigerian passports without their owners and have issued a manhunt in collaboration with BaliRegional Police.

Investigations reveal that the overstayers are linked to cyber crimes, supported by evidence from their laptops. The suspects are currently held at Denpasar Immigration while awaiting further legal action and deportation.
