Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) issued an appeal urging the public to maintain a conducive atmosphere throughout the general election process.
Muhammad Cholil Nafis, MUI Chairman for Da'wah and Brotherhood, emphasized the importance of restraint, honesty, and fairness during the electoral period, antaranews.com reported.
Encouraging vigilance among citizens, he stressed the need to monitor the vote-counting process diligently and address any grievances peacefully through legal channels.
"Our collective aim is for the election to proceed fairly and peacefully," Nafis said on Wednesday (14/2/2024).
Asserting the significance of every individual's right to vote conscientiously, he highlighted the pivotal role of electing leaders who will govern the nation for the next five years.
Moreover, he urged humility among victorious candidates and resilience among those who might not succeed in the election.
"Winners must avoid arrogance, while losers should remain undeterred," Nafis asserted.
Reflecting on past experiences, he expressed optimism for collaborative efforts among elected representatives to advance the nation's interests over the next five years.
