Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s delegation led by Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar attended the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on Sunday (18/5/2025), carrying a peace mission on behalf of President Prabowo Subianto.
“This visit carries a message of unity, justice, and humanity. Faith communities—both in Indonesia and globally—must actively contribute to peace and brotherhood,” Minister Muhaimin said in a statement from Rome, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Representing Indonesia officially, Minister Muhaimin aimed to strengthen Indonesia-Vatican relations and reaffirm Indonesia’s global role in supporting peaceful conflict resolution. He also delivered a personal letter from President Prabowo to the Pope, offering congratulations and expressing support for joint efforts toward global harmony.
Minister Muhaimin praised Pope Leo XIV’s focus on aiding the poor, calling it an opportunity to mobilize resources to fight poverty and strengthen humanitarian efforts.
