Inp.polri.go.id - Cannes. Indonesia showcased its cultural and film industry potential during the "Indonesian Cinema Night" at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, highlighting the nation’s growing influence in global cinema.
“As a mega-diverse country, Indonesia is ready to enrich the global film industry by sharing our cultural heritage through collaboration and co-productions,” said Minister of Culture Fadli Zon in a statement on Sunday (18/5/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The showcase featured six Indonesian films, including Pangku, Renoir, and Sleep No More, and brought together Indonesian senior actors such as Christine Hakim, Reza Rahardian, and Iko Uwais. Actress-producer Yulia Evina Bhara also presented Renoir, a cross-border production, and served as a festival juror.
The event also featured a pencak silat performance by Uwais Pictures. Indonesia invited global producers to explore its diverse locations and film talent.
In 2024, Indonesian local films attracted 81 million viewers, surpassing foreign titles in Indonesia’s cinemas for the first time, with 36 films selected by international festivals.
