Indonesia’s First Phase of Humanitarian Aid Arrives in Turkey

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government has responded quickly to the recent earthquake in Turkey, dispatching a Boeing 737-A400 and a Hercules C30 aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force with the first phase of humanitarian aid on board from the Halim Airport in Jakarta on Saturday (2/111/23) that has arrived in Turkey on the next day.

“Our MUSAR INASAR team that was dispatched to Turkey from Halim Airport yesterday is scheduled to arrive at Gaziantep City at around 9 am local time,” said Deputy Assistant of Emergency and After Disaster Management of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Nelwan Harahap, referring to the Medium Urban Search and Rescue (SAR) of the National SAR Agency.

Comprising of 47 personnel and other SAR members, the team has been assigned to be on duty for the duration of two weeks with the possibility of extension if requested by the Turkish government.

The second phase of the aid, which consists of 105 medical personnel, was planned to be dispatched on Monday (02/13/23).

“The outgoing personnel are equipped with standard equipment as requested by the Turkish government. Our INASAR team is to be stationed in the city of Gaziantep in accordance with the instructions and coordination from our embassy. Medical personnel are from the Health Crisis Center of the Ministry of Health, health personnel from Indonesian Military-INP, and civilians," he explained. 

Indonesia has planned to send a three-part humanitarian aid initiative to assist with the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, he concluded.
