INP Aid Search for Missing Aircraft in North Kalimantan

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, the Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Indonesian National Police (INP), announced INP's involvement in the search for a missing cargo aircraft operated by Smart Air in North Kalimantan. "Officers from the South and Central Krayan Police Precincts were dispatched on Friday afternoon to assist in the search," he stated on Saturday (9/3/2024). The cargo aircraft, a PC 6  with registration PK-SNE, disappeared after departing Tarakan at 8:25 am, scheduled to arrive in Binuang at 9:25 am, according to antaranews.com. The current of the cargo plane, which carried government-sponsored cargo on board, location remains unknown. Search operations began on Friday afternoon led by the Tarakan Search and Rescue Team, comprising 66 personnel from various agencies, including 20 from the Indonesian Military, 20 from the Malinau Sub-regional Police, 10 from the Mobile Brigade (Brimob), 10 from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and six from the Search and Rescue team. "Unfortunately, no progress has been made due to foggy weather conditions and poor visibility," General Trunoyudo added. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
