Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Crime Directorate has arrested five Indonesian suspects for orchestrating a sophisticated e-Traffic fine scam using fraudulent SMS blasts that impersonated the Attorney General’s Office.

Investigations revealed that the syndicate was remotely controlled by Chinese citizens who supplied "SIM box" devices to send phishing links to over 3,000 mobile numbers daily.

“The suspects acted as local operatives, executing commands from foreign handlers in China through auto-remote systems,” explained Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, the Director of Cyber Crime, on Wednesday (25/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

The suspects, identified as WTP, FN, RW, BAP, and RJ, allegedly received monthly salaries in cryptocurrency ranging from 1,500 to 4,000 USDT for maintaining the hardware.

Their roles included operating the blasting equipment and providing pre-registered SIM cards. The group now faces multiple charges under the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law and money laundering statutes, carrying severe prison sentences.
