Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Cimahi Sub-regional Police have uncovered a unique drug trafficking scheme in Lembang, West Java, where a dealer hid crystal methamphetamine inside freshwater snail shells, locally known as tutut.
Officers arrested a young man in Wangunsari Village who used the shells as camouflage to evade detection during "map point" deliveries across the Greater Bandung area.
“The suspect hollowed out snails gathered from nearby rice fields and stuffed them with small packets of meth, making the drugs appear as discarded organic waste,” said Cimahi Police Chief Superintendent Niko Nurallah Adi Putra on Wednesday (29/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Police seized 2,08 grams of methamphetamine and numerous prepared shells from the suspect, who had operated for three months. Authorities are currently pursuing a supplier identified as "Mengko," who remains at large. The suspect faces up to 20 years in prison under the Narcotics Act for his involvement in the illicit trade.
