Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) have handled 246 cases linked to nationwide riots that erupted between 25 and 31 August 2025, arresting a total of 959 suspects, officials confirmed on Wednesday (24/9/2025).
The cases were investigated by the INP’s Criminal Investigation Agency and 15 regional police headquarters.
“Up to now, we have processed 246 police reports, handled at the Criminal Investigation Agency, its cyber unit, and 15 regional headquarters,” INP Criminal Investigation Chief Commissioner General Syahardiantono said in a press briefing in Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com
Of those arrested, 664 were adults and 295 were minors. Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police detained the most adults, while East Java Regional Police held the most minors. Authorities said some children were diverted from prosecution under Indonesia’s juvenile justice system, while others are facing trial.
The INP said suspects were accused of inciting riots through social media, spreading violent content, looting, assaulting officers, and using Molotov cocktails. Charges range from incitement under the Criminal Code to weapons offenses under the Emergency Law.
