INP Arrest Thousands Drug Criminal Perpetrators Since October 1st-17th

Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Drug Prevention Task Force of Indonesian National Police (INP) and Regional Police ranks reveal the total drug criminal case from October 1st-17th. The Chief Drug Prevention Task Force, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri states thousands of suspects has been arrested during the operation. “The INP Drug Prevention Task Force and Regional Police ranks have arrested 2,431 suspects,” says Asep during a press conference at INP Grand HQ on Wednesday (10/18/2023). Asep further reveals that 2,128 suspects are still being examined while 303 others have been rehabilitated. During the operation period, INP and Regional Police ranks has released 1,643 police reports. “We have estimated at least 1,454,447 people are saved by the revelations of these drug crimes,” he says. Quoted pmjnews, the evidence from the drug criminal uncovering are 315,870 grams of methamphetamine, 26,392 ecstasy pills, 102,339 grams of marijuana, 943 grams of Gorilla Tobacco, and 607,075 pills of hard drugs. The drug criminal perpetrators are charged with Article 114 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 2 of Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics. The article states the guilty could be punished with the death penalty, life imprisonment or a minimum sentence of 6 years, and a maximum of 20 years in prison, as well as a minimum fine of IDR 1 billion and a maximum of IDR 10 billion plus a third.
