Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Indonesia’s National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo confirmed on Tuesday (22/7/2025) that he is following President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to take firm action against rice adulteration.

“Yes, we’ve followed up. The team has been working since yesterday,” he said at the INP’s STIK-PTIK Auditorium in South Jakarta. as reported by antaranews.com.

The INPe’s Food Task Force is investigating alleged violations in rice weight and quality, with preliminary findings to be announced soon. 

“An initial report will likely be released tomorrow,” he said.

The task force is inspecting rice producers and distributors suspected of mislabeling regular rice as premium and selling it above the highest retail price. Laboratory tests are also underway in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.

On Monday in Klaten, Central Java, President Prabowo condemned the practice as criminal fraud and urged immediate legal action.
