The Chief of Indonesian National Police (INP) Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo conducted a thorough security assessment of the ASEAN Summit at the Police Command Center in the Promoter Building of Metro Jaya Regional Police on Wednesday (9/6/23). Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, Head of the Public Affairs Bureau of the INP Public Relations Division, outlined that a spectrum of critical issues were addressed during the analysis and evaluation. "At the preceding meeting, the Chief of INP personally oversaw security measures for the ASEAN Summit. Police Senior Superintendent Marsudianto, the Chief of the Tribrata Jaya 2023 Operation Command Center, provided a detailed update on the prevailing security situation for the ASEAN Summit," he said at the Command Center. He also relayed the Chief of INP's discussion on the dynamic and situational traffic management strategies set for daily implementation. "We also delved into the timetable for implementing traffic control measures, commencing today from 16.00 to 22.00 local time," he added. Moreover, he stressed that the Chief of INP addressed anticipated traffic diversions which may lead to congestion and the importance of informing the public in advance about the affected routes, with a particular focus on providing information about available alternatives. "We will station personnel along those routes to assist in redirecting public towards alternative routes and provide informational services," he said. He underscored the significance of the public's understanding of the current situation and conditions. He cautioned that if on-ground officer engagement and public outreach are insufficient, there will be additional reinforcement and repeated information dissemination. In light of this, he clarified that the Chief of INP called for persistent communication with the public regarding traffic management, "Disseminate this information through both mainstream media and social platforms. Given the public's access to information, utilizing all available media channels is imperative." In addition to these discussions, the Chief of INP, he said, also addressed security arrangements for the Gala Dinner, stating, "We also outlined the preparatory measures for the Gala Dinner for Delegates and participants of the ASEAN Summit at Senayan." The Chief of INP, he said, underscored the critical need to ensure the Gala Dinner unfolds seamlessly and without any untoward incidents. "In summary, the Chief of INP emphasized the paramount importance of INP personnel's presence in the community, along with close coordination with colleagues from the Indonesian Military and all relevant stakeholders in the field," he concluded.
