The Indonesian National Police (INP) underscores the crucial role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) within sub-task forces to ensure the security of the 43rd ASEAN Summit held in Jakarta. Brigadier General Police Giri Purwanto, Head of VIII Task Force Operational Assistant, highlighted the establishment of a command center aimed at enhancing communication efficiency among guides and coordinators. "We've identified two key technologies vital for police operations, integral in executing police duties during operations. Furthermore, within this command center we've seamlessly integrated ICT," he said on Wednesday (9/6/23). The team is actively engaged in aerial surveillance to monitor suspicious or unauthorized drones. "Currently, we're conducting vigilant surveillance in rings 3 and 4, coordinating with rings 2 and 1. Furthermore, helicopters are designated for evacuation purposes, and our drones are seamlessly integrated into our command center system for comprehensive monitoring," he elaborated. The security operation for the 43rd ASEAN Summit involves the participation of over 6.000 personnel, divided into eight task forces stationed within ring 3. These task forces encompass a spectrum of functions including preemptive measures, preventive actions, security protocols, convoy escort duties, legal enforcement, public relations efforts, operational support, and anti-terrorism operations. The 43rd ASEAN Summit itself is scheduled to convene from September 5th to 7th, 2023 in Jakarta. This event brings together delegations from 22 countries, including the ASEAN members, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste.
