Inp.polri.go.id - Tasikmalaya.  Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has posthumously promoted on Saturday (4/1/2025)  Senior Brigadier Andithya Munartono to Assistant Second Inspector for his heroic efforts in rescuing a drowning tourist.

The Pagerageung Police Office officer lost his life in the incident on Friday at Pangandaran Beach.

The tragedy occurred when he noticed a tourist, Sevina Azahra (14), struggling in strong waves. Without hesitation, he and his colleague, Senior Brigadier Wahyu, rushed to help. However, powerful currents pulled him, Sevina, and a bystander, Supri (48), about 40 meters from shore. A nearby fishing boat rescued them, but he succumbed to drowning injuries en route to the hospital.

He was buried with full honors in his hometown of Sukapada, Tasikmalaya, in a ceremony led by Tasikmalaya Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Joko Sulistiono. The family received financial support from the West Regional Java Police as a gesture of condolence.
