Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said schools in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh Province, are expected to resume operations on 5 January 2026, following flood-related disruptions, as police-led cleanup efforts continue.

“Specifically for schools, our hope is that classes can resume on January 5, and we are accelerating the cleanup so they can operate again on that date,” he said during an inspection of SMP Swasta Islam Kuala Simpang Junior High School and nearby facilities on Wednesday (31/12/2025).

Chief Sigit explained that police officers, together with local residents, are cleaning 38 schools affected by the floods to ensure students can safely return to classrooms. The visit also aimed to assess plans for permanent and temporary housing for disaster victims, according to antaranews.com.

The INP have deployed heavy equipment and 1,102 personnel to support recovery efforts in Aceh Tamiang, as well as in West Sumatra and North Sumatra, ensuring post-disaster recovery, reconstruction, and a return to normal community activities.
