Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Traffic accidents in Indonesia fell in 2025 compared to 2024, the Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps announced on Tuesday (30/1/22025).
Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho said that traffic accidents dropped from 150,096 cases in 2024 to 141,608 in 2025, a 6.16% decrease. Fatalities also declined sharply, from 26,839 deaths in 2024 to a 19.8% lower figure in 2025.
Chief Agus attributed the improvement to Korlantas’ proactive public education program, Polantas Menyapa, which engages schools, pesantren, and community groups to promote road safety.
“Rather than merely enforcing the law, we bring road safety awareness directly to communities. This approach has significantly reduced accidents and fatalities,” he said, as cited by antaranews.com.
Chief Agus added that the human-centered approach for traffic officers, emphasizing friendliness and community engagement, has also contributed to the positive trend.
“The smile of the police and traffic officers is a key marker. Humanistic approaches, as guided by the INP Chief, remain our priority,” Chief Agus said.
