Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto offered personal support to First Inspector M. Agus Setiawan, who suffered an acute respiratory infection and lost his voice while fighting forest and land fires (karhutla).

Through a phone call on Wednesday (21/10/2026), he expressed high appreciation for the Palangka Raya City Police officer and praised the dedication of personnel battling severe smoke conditions on the front lines.

"I give my highest appreciation and pride to all members in the field, especially Mr. Agus and colleagues, who tirelessly fight to extinguish forest and land fires," Chief Suyudi said.

Despite doctors recommending a one-week rest, officer Agus continued supporting fire suppression efforts as his physical condition allowed.

Chief Suyudi urged all officers to prioritize their health and seek immediate medical care when needed, highlighting the risks personnel face from severe smoke exposure during wildfire operations.
