Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia National Police (INP)’s Criminal Investigation Agency has confirmed that no Chinese citizens are currently engaged in illegal gold mining in Sekotong, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), following an on-site inspection by the Directorate of Certain Crimes on Tuesday.
“We ensure there are no more illegal mining activities,” said Brigadier General Moh. Irhamni, Director of Certain Crimes, as reported by antaranews.com on Friday (31/10/2025)
He said that local police began investigating the case in August 2024, seizing two dump trucks and one excavator. The main suspect, identified as Chinese citizen HF, has reportedly fled to Kuala Lumpur, while 13 others are under questioning.
The illegal mining occurred within the concession area of PT Indotan Lombok Barat Bangkit, which holds a valid mining license but has yet to operate. Police have sealed the site with crime scene tape to ensure no further unauthorized activity.
