Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has deployed maximum personnel strength to respond to widespread floods and landslides across North Sumatra, which have struck continuously from 24 to 27 November 20257.
INP Public Relations Division Head of Public Communication Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said on Thursday (27/11/2025) that the force remains on full emergency alert to assist affected communities.
“The INP is maximizing all forces, from precincts to regional commands, to rescue residents and accelerate handling at affected points. Our main focus is evacuation, victim search, and ensuring basic needs are met,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
As of 12.30 pm, authorities recorded 221 disaster incidents: 119 landslides, 90 floods, 10 fallen trees, and two tornado events. A total of 212 victims were affected, including 43 dead, 81 injured, and 88 still missing. At least 1,168 people have been displaced.
Police units are conducting road clearing, victim rescue, medical services, traffic control, and operating an emergency Starlink communication network. Additional support includes a helicopter from INP Headquarters, expanded evacuation shelters, and six logistics trucks dispatched to Sibolga, Central Tapanuli, and North Tapanuli.
Chief Trunoyudo urged collective support, noting that humanitarian operations “require full collaboration” from local governments, volunteers, and communities.
