Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Traffic Corps predicted that around 2.9 million vehicles will leave Jakarta via toll roads during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holiday period.
The forecast represented a 12.2 percent increase from normal traffic volume and a slight 0.9 percent rise from last year’s holiday peak.
Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho told Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Thursday (27/11/2025) that the traffic surge may require special traffic engineering on major routes.
“We can still control the volume, but we will determine the parameters, whether we need contra flow or a one-way scheme,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com
As many as 880,678 vehicles are expected to head west through Cikupa Toll Gate, 690,952 to the east via Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, and 672,457 to the south through Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate. More than 1.36 million vehicles are projected to pass KM 66 Cikampek Toll Road, a critical decision point for traffic diversions.
Two peak travel dates are projected on 20 and 24 December 2025, influenced by government plans for remote-working days before Christmas. The return flow to Jakarta is estimated at 2.8 million vehicles, with expected congestion not only on toll roads but also at tourism destinations within the capital.
