Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)s Criminal Investigation Agency deployed a special team to West Sumatra to investigate alleged illegal mining activities, particularly unlicensed gold mining, officials said on Monday (12/1/2026).
“We have been instructed by the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency, and a team is already on the ground in West Sumatra to enforce the law against illegal mining,” said Brigadier General Moh. Irhamni, the Director of Certain Crimes at the Agency, as quoted by antaranews.com
The deployed officers are working closely with regional and district police to gather evidence and identify potential suspects.
Chief Irhamni said the probe is ongoing and has yet to determine whether large corporations are involved. He urged the public to report any credible information to assist law enforcement in ensuring fair and firm action.
