The Indonesian National Police (INP) conducted a Training of Trainers session for the 2026 "Paham AI" (Understand AI) Program in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/7/2026), aimed at strengthening digital literacy and equipping students to use artificial intelligence safely and ethically.
The program brought together 65 participants, including 55 prospective trainers from 11 pilot regional police commands and 10 master trainers from the Central Sulawesi Regional Police, who will cascade AI literacy initiatives down to local police precincts.
Head of the Technology and Communication Bureau at the INP’s IT Division, Brigadier General Indarto, said that research across 11,550 students showed 94 percent already use AI, mostly self-taught, making early intervention critical.
"Students have the potential to become victims or perpetrators of AI-based crimes, so we are mitigating that risk through this education," he said.
The INP aims to reach 10 million secondary school students in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. Director General of Secondary Education Tatang Muttaqin praised the joint effort, emphasizing that preparing the youth requires building both AI proficiency and ethical digital standards.
The trained instructors will deliver workshops to senior high and vocational school students covering safe AI utilization, digital ethics, cybersecurity, and crime prevention.
