inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has instructed all police forces to protect journalists at work.

The appeal is in response to the violence against journalists while on duty by certain police personnel in recent days.

"We ask all police members to protect the work of objective and professional journalists and to cooperate in every activity," said the Head of the Public Information Bureau of INP Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday (8/26/2025).

He said the media is a strategic partner and one of the main sources of information and literacy for the public.

"(The media) plays a major role in providing the public with the information of our work, professionally, as well as programs to maintain public security and order, public services and other strategic programs," he explained.

Therefore, he appealed to all levels of the police force to protect the work of journalists.
