The Executive Director of Young Visionary Movement Teofilus Mian Parluhutan considers that the allegations against Indonesian National Police (INP) being biased is just a baseless accusation from certain groups. Teofilus states that the baseless accusation against INP was forged by certain groups who deliberately aims to cause disruptions during elections, as most of its statements are just assumptions. “Things would spiral in chaos if we rely only on assumptions, framing or insufficient evidence. This underscores the importance of evidence and reference in backing up your statement,” said Teofilus. According to Teofilus, the formation neutrality working committee of INP on 2024 General Election is unnecessary as INP, along with Indonesian Military Force, has their own mechanism, down to the enforcement against their members who violates the rules. “INP has Professional and Security Division (Propam) which responsible in acting against members who violates ethical code. Moreover, in Law Number 2 of 2002 regarding INP, it is regulated that INP is barred from politic activities,” says Teofilus. He also states that the neutrality issues surrounding the election in actuality cannot be discussed anymore as there has been INP Chief order who firmly forbid police members being involved in practical politics. “It is quite simple actually, because if there is proof of unneutrality, you could immediately report the case to Propam division. So let us not accuse without any supporting facts. This baseless accusation could only led to commotions,” conclude Teofilus. (ad/ta/pr/nm)
