Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has been ramping up security preparations for the visit of Pope Francis and the International Sustainability Forum (ISF) in early September 2024.

Chief of the Operation Tribrata Jaya 2024, Commissioner General Imam Widodo, confirmed on Thursday (29/8/2024) that police officers will undergo specialized training to assure the safety of both events, which will take place from 3 to 6  September 2024. 

Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church, will be visiting Indonesia during this period, coinciding with the ISF event.

Chief Imam highlighted that global, regional, and national developments could impact the security arrangements, citing potential threats such as conventional crimes, transnational crimes, and terrorism.

"The INP plays a crucial role in safeguarding the visit of Pope Francis and the ISF, ensuring the safety and comfort of attending heads of state and delegates," he said.

The INP will prioritize preemptive and preventive measures, supported by law enforcement, cyber security, Interpol collaboration, and public relations, to maintain public order during both events.
