Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has rescued 3,000 Indonesian migrant workers from the clutches of human traffickers in a joint operation with the headquarters of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI).
The operation, led by INP chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who was appointed by President Joko Widodo as the day-to-day chairman of the Human Trafficking Task Force (Satgas TPPO) on 30 May 2023, has yielded significant results.
"These 3,000 rescued migrant workers who were sent through illegal channels show the success of the joint efforts, " Renardi of the BP2MI Headquarters Secretariat said, expressing his gratitude for the effective cooperation.
Highlighting the success of the ongoing cooperation between the central government, local authorities, various community elements and law enforcement agencies such as the Indonesian Military, the INP and BP2MI, he emphasized the commitment to preventing human trafficking.
"In addition to the 3,000 rescued migrant workers, the INP arrested 1,000 suspects in human trafficking cases in May 2023 alone," he added.
