inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Moh. Rano Alfath, Vice Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), assessed that the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s action in following up on complaints regarding the raid on the Hamalatul Quran Islamic Boarding School in Sukoharjo, Central Java, demonstrates that the police are listening to the public's aspirations.
Rano stated that the dismissal of the Sukoharjo Sub-regional Police Chief and the investigation of four personnel by the INP's Professional and Security Division are a follow-up to the concerns expressed by the students and administrators of the Islamic boarding school.
"I appreciate the decisiveness of INP Chief and his staff in listening to the complaints of the students and administrators of the Islamic boarding school and then taking concrete action. The willingness to evaluate the actions of officers and ensure their accountability is an important part of maintaining public trust in the police," Rano said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/3/2026).
According to him, the investigation of police personnel needs to be conducted objectively and thoroughly to clarify the responsibilities of each officer based on the facts found.
Rano also emphasized the importance of paying attention to the condition of the students who are experiencing fear and anxiety following the incident. He requested that students who need assistance receive protection so they can return to their studies in peace.
"Islamic boarding schools are places where they learn and grow. When complaints arise that they feel sacred in their own school, the state is obligated to be present to restore that sense of security. Ensure they receive the assistance they need and can return to their studies in peace," he said.
Furthermore, Rano requested that the police visit Islamic boarding schools to strengthen communication with the kiai, caretakers, and students. These visits are expected to provide a space for dialogue so students can share their experiences and aspirations with the police.
Rano hopes that INP Chief's actions in following up on this incident will further strengthen the trust of the Islamic boarding school community in the police.
