Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) have begun security operations ahead of Good Friday and Easter Sunday to ensure safe and peaceful celebrations for Christian communities.

“The visible presence of officers shows our commitment to public service and respect for religious freedom and tolerance,” said INP Public Relations Division Head of General Information Senior Superintendent Erdi A. Chaniago, on Thursday (17/4/2025).

Working with local stakeholders, police are securing churches nationwide, including Jakarta’s Cathedral Church, which expects around 2,000 worshippers, according to antaranews.com.

Efforts focus on early detection of potential threats—before, during, and after the events—to prevent disruptions. Security deployments are adjusted based on the number of churches in each region, with regional police preparing accordingly.

Police are also increasing cyber patrols to prevent the spread of hoaxes or provocative content that could disturb worship. With a long holiday weekend expected to boost travel, officers will monitor high-traffic areas to manage congestion and ensure public safety.
