Inp.polri.go.id - Jombang. Indonesian National Police (INP) Inspector General for Supervision Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo praised Islamic boarding schools for their role in strengthening food security through nationwide corn planting initiatives.
“East Java is pioneering collaboration between pesantren and police for simultaneous corn planting, both regionally and nationally,” he said during an event at Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, Wednesday (6/8/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Chief Dedi noted pesantren in East Java contributed nearly 200,000 hectares, part of 500 hectares planted nationwide this quarter, toward the year-end target of one million hectares.
The Ministry of Agriculture estimates this goal could yield four million tons of corn, supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s self-sufficiency program. Chief Dedi emphasized the effort as a matter of national sovereignty and urged ongoing cooperation.
The event also featured affordable food markets, farming equipment donations, and 10 hectares of corn planting at Tebuireng.
